Camp Lejeune-2nd Batt Intell?
Does anyone have info on 2nd Battalion Intel at Camp Lejeune? How large is this Batallion? Why are the messhall and work offices so far away from the barracks? Not all Privates & PFC’s have cars. Isn’t there a way for them to get to these places that they do not have to pay for? When I was in the Army, my office and the messhall were two buildings away from my barracks. My son has to rely on a car ride to work, and he doesn’t eat much because the messhall it is too far away. This is unbelievable!! He can fight in Iraq, but they can’t find a convenient way to feed him? Thanks for any details
I was on Camp Lejeune for some time and the chow halls aren’t that far from the intell building. In the Marines people should take care of each other. I used to bring back lunches for people all the time and give anyone that asked a ride (even if I didn’t like them). His unit must provide him with enough time to go to a chow hall. They could get in trouble if they didn’t.
Walking builds up the appetite.

My boyfriend is in 2/6 at Lejeune and you’re right….they do have a long distance between barracks and mess hall. Many of the guys rely on each other to get around and off base. If they don’t personally own a car, they’ll pool together money to use a cab…

Well you get the short end of the stick and you just have to do what you have to do. And if your son can go and first in Iraq. He can also learn to take a loan and buy a car with his Iraq MONEY! So that shouldn’t be a issue. And the Army has changed. The DFAC isn’t as close as it used to be anymore.
Da DoN!

Life could be a lot worse than what he is dealing with now and I’m sure he has had some bad things to deal with. All of the branches have a budget that they have to work with from congress and the base commander has to deal many issues. Such as the "B’s, bullets band aides and beans. They have to control things as best they can. Your son is not the only one there. I have been there. I once had a CO that did not like mustaches or any one to get married if they was on there 1st enlistment but it was his unit. He also didn’t like his troops top ride motor bikes or loud music. But we dealt with it. I used to walk a great distance to the chow hall each and every meal.
I also found out as I worked my way up, Chow was not that bad many improvements have been made no it is not like mom used to cook but it was food. If I keep a man on the road 5 extra minutes he wanted at least 30 minutes to make that up because he felt he has missed chow. Now keeping that in mind when a 72 or 96 came up he was the first one going out the gate the uniform was coming off in chunks and do you think he thought about chow NOPE not until he was going down the road headed for home(were ever that might be)ten buck too. But as soon as he got back the very first thing I would here is I missed chow. But do to the fact that I was his boss I had to insure that when chow time came I had to see to it he got his food.

Mom….he is a Marine….if he is whining about something that minor I need to talk to him about what he is doing in the Marines in the first place. Trust me you do not want me to talk to him, so I suggest you tell him to suck it up Marine!
