    I didn’t know the name in Polish, thanks. When Napolean’s army invaded Russia, it was comprised mostly of German and Polish enlisted men (officers being French, much like the Foreign Legion, today); apparently the caps they wore then were not abandoned by the Poles in later years; in my opinion, they’re the most handsome in all of Europe, maybe the world.

    I think it is preparation for a ceremony for Constitution Day on the 3 May, I notice that a lot of the soldiers are not in their full ceremonial uniform.

    At the end, there are also representatives of the Border Guard and Police. The “Napoleonic style cap” is called rogatywka and it’s unique for the Polish Army. It has been adopted from the East in the XVIII century.

    thank you, kindly. U.S Army manual of arms, and parade,as you may know, is based on the German and when I was in the army many years ago, my unit paraded with the German Army all the time because the styles were nearly identical; I thought this parade style was a little like Russian (but not much) and a little like German (but also not much); I love those Napoleonic style caps ( a genuine touch of class).; the martial music was also VERY good. thanks again.

    Hi 40127c. Polish Army has developped its own drill, unique and not similar to any other army in the World. There was a periode of time when they were trying to imitate Russian drill, but they stopped very soon. This unit is the biggest parade unit in Poland. They wear Land , Navy and Air Forces uniforms. HOwever, all garrisons have their own parade units but the do not specialise in a drill only, but you can meet them on daily basis fulfilling other duties as well. Hope this helps ;) BRGDS

    I hope someone can answer my questions in English. Don’t think I’ve ever seen any troops march finer than this (although, interestingly, this isn’t the way Americans or Germans parade); is this unit for ceremony only? By the way, the guidons are exquisite!

    Gdybys przeczytal uwaznie opis to bys wiedzial ze to sa ostatnie przygotowania (final preparations) do defilady. Przemysl uwaznie dwa razy co chcesz zrobic zanim zrobisz cos glupiego jak umieszczenie swojego komentarza.
