I was discharged in March of 2009. And while being processed to be discharged. I was told that I can re-enlist after 6 months. It is now October 2009. I cannot re-enlist through my city because unfortunately my 3rd batallion XO in now stationed at my recruiting office! What are the odds! He was the one that finalized my discharge. He says he remembers me and he does not want to put me through. Which I understand and will not argue about. So now he pretty much black listed me through the city and the other recruiting offices around the region. I have to go to another city to try and Re-enlist.
Can I enlist after 6 months? Cause I heard it was 1 or 2 years. I got failure to adapt with a mood of depression. But here’s the story. I got real sick and was on bed rest for a few days and I felt unmotivated to continue. And to this day I regret for making the decision of getting out. I’m trying to get back in. With everyone and there mom’s trying to join it seems impossible for right now. My recruiter was looking through my paperwork saying it should be no problem for me to get back in. It’s just basic stuff. I just need to get waivered. Main question is, can I re-enlist back in the Marines? This is all I have in mind for now. Thanks to all who are inputting there information.

If the Marines don’t take you try the Army; they’re basically the same.

This saturday our Rotc batallion is having soaker wars. We’re basically playing capture the flag with super soakers. Theres going to be atleast 80 people with all super soakers. I’ve owned water guns before but they’ve all gotten old and worn out. I want to buy a new one that would give me an advantage out in the field. The target is going to be a patch of some sort on everyones chest, once soaked the person is "dead." Something with accuracy distance and a spreadshot would be fantastic. Price isn’t really a problem but im not paying 1 grand for a toy gun. Specific replies please. I don’t need a vague link to the supersoakers website. Thank you!

I have been married 20 years. My husband (Sr. Chief) in reserves had "emotional affair" he says for 6 mo with my friend. While going to marriage counselling, he started talking and texting with a different woman who was in his batallion. I called her, very nicely, and told her that she was aware that we were havig problems in our marriage re; the 1st woman, and that I did not appreciate her and my husband texting back and foirth with flirty text messages and leaving messages on his cell phone etc (wish you were her – dare you getting along ok driving in traffice (he has been driving for 30 yrs), when are we going to meet for dinner, was I a bad date – haven’t heard from you, etc).
After I asked her "from one married woman to another and from a military family that is facing stress due to another upcoming deployment, I want it to stop – I didn’t chat with her husband and flirt with him – expected the same from her. My husband is a much higher rank than her.
Needless to say the texting, flirting, meeting for drinks while at drill weekend, etc continued. He is now divorcing me and does not want to work things out because he would rather be right than honest – this war has really changed him and devestated our family.
Why do I have no re-course for this? Is this "unbecoming of a soldier"/ What happened to Military families supporting military families? My kids are shocked and heartbroke=n, but m husband said if I tell his commander, he will just "laugh" at me. I don’t want to be a bitch, but feel like I did my 23 years supporting him in the military, running his business while he was deployed, caring for his children while he was galavanting around on drill weekend. Why does this go unpunished? Is there any recourse? Or would I have to have proof it was physical?

This may be hard for you to understand, but they are military personnel, not slaves, they have the same rights as someone in civilian life. Unless the affair is between a commissioned officer and enlisted personnel, or the affair is coerced, the military won’t involve itself.

I will add, that it sounds as if you are better off without him. He doesn’t exactly sound like the military poster child. Go see a competent attorney that has experience dealing with the military. You need to make sure that the child support is deducted from his pay each month and sent directly to you.

I have a child with a US soldier, who is not in her life (we are in the same state still), I filed for child support in July. My case worker has sent numerous letters for him to contact them. He hasn’t. He hasn’t filled out any paperwork that has been sent to him. I finally called his batallion and they in turn, made him call.

I was told we would both be sent a finance packet to fill out and send back in. I did and today I received a letter that from SRS that said:

"This is to advise you that your Child Support case has been referred for legal action."

I’m not quite sure why this happened or what it means. And being that I can’t call til Monday, I thought I’d ask on here. Is it because he is still not cooperating? Like not filling out the necassary paperwork to get the ball rolling for child support?

If that’s the case, what exactly should I expect now? Court? Should I call his 1st Sgt. again? Thanks in advance for your answers!

The "Service" intends for their soliders to do what is right .. including paying child support.

If you contact anyone .. do not contact his 1st Sergeant … contact a general office .. a higher position .. who can give you legal facts .. and guidelines .. for this type of situation.

The legal notification could represent several things. It may be legal filings to get the child support started .. but don’t worry about it. You have the real proof … the child is his .. and he owes child support.

A DNA test may be called for .. if he is not your husband .. but that is ok, too .. because as the saying goes … "the proof is in the pudding" .. meaning .. the DNA tells the truth.

I’ve had a Wii for a while and sadly, with no multiplayer and no online playing possible for me at the moment Smash Bros Brawl got a little old after beating most of the 1 player stuff.

So the next games that I want to get are Mario Kart Wii and No more heroes.
But I made a list one day about games that I saw that had a good score and that I found that could be interesting for my tastes.

I just joined the fire department about a month ago and I finished "recruit" classes I took as a cadet in the department (I’m 16). Fire 1 is coming up in July and when I did the SCBA for the first time running with my gear and that on..it about made me pass out since I’m not used to it. Supposively there’s a lot more running involved too, so, is there any fellow firefighters can suggest to get into shape with this thing? Obviously running and such, but my schedule is tight with school and working. I usually have atleast 4 ‘free’ days during the week since I’m done with the recruit classes.

There is also a gym at one of my stations, I havn’t been assigned a Batallion yet so I’m not sure if I’ll be stationed there or now, however, I can still use it reguardless.

How much should I run and how long so I can be in good running/cardio condition by early July/late June?

Wear the complete mask and tank set up, run the stairs if that is required, for a while than start adding weights like say a kelly bar and tank,same stairs,than a light,a kelly bar and tank,than a 50 ft 1 1/2 with light and kelly bar and tank and so on til you feel second nature with it. Good luck rook. Been there,done it.
