Moving from Stage to Stage

The process of moving from stage to stage is heavily dependent on an individual’s interaction with his environment. By continuously interacting with, learning from and adapting to their environment, humans have the ability to move through the stages quickly or more slowly based on their level of interaction. By interacting with outside circumstances, people, places and events, we develop new associations and ways of thinking about things. This environmental interaction can take several forms such as, adaptation in which assimilation and accommodation follow. The latter contains four distinct causal mechanisms. The best way to express this thought would be to say that adaptation occurs through assimilation and accommodation. With both assimilation and accommodation, learners make an adjustment in response to their environment.
