There are services accessible for practically anything these days. I have heard of laundry providers, house cleaning companies, dog strolling providers, courier companies, catering services, courting providers, even financial services. Yesterday I had my first encounter with paper shredding services. The concept is smart now that I think about it. I have to confess though; at first I was under the impression that this was a personal service. My first emotion was shock at the truth that there really was somebody on the market too lazy to stay their unsolicited mail and private papers in a shredder beside their desk. Then I noticed that that is actually for an organization or business with a whole lot of delicate information that needs to be destroyed.
The pharmaceutical firm that I was visiting had this large fiberboard containers scattered throughout the building with slots in the high to drop the papers in. The underside of the cupboard is locked with a key that solely the shredding company has the key to. The paper shredding truck come a few times a week, remove the bag stuffed with papers and exchange it with an empty one. The bag is taken to a different location to be destroyed and the cycle begins again.
I suppose the idea behind the paper shredding services is a logical one. For some cause I find it difficult to imagine that this method is as secure as simply destroying the paperwork on site. Hopefully for the corporate that creates managed medicine, this methodology stays secure.
