    We used to have a German Major who used to come to my Battery to learn and study the British way of delivering artillery, later when the Major became the Commanding Officer of his own German gun Regt he invited us to put a gun crew into his Regiments best gun competition, our normal gun was the 105mm Abbott and his Regt was equipped with the M 109.

    All I can say is our gun crew won the first prize in the Germans best gun competition in 1976.

    US currently has the tiest artilery guns, also its rocket arty is far from the best, but still better than guns.

    Tanks are designed to engage point targets. Artillary, area targets. Tanks are more mobile and faster than tracked Arty. Atry shells are bigger than Tank shells and take Poweder charges. This limits a self propelled Artillery piece’s internal magazine capacity. Over all it boild down to two different roles. Area of effect bombardment, and Point target engagement.

    24kms is all – G6 – 52 artillery has reached 67kms and fires 3 rounds of 155mm HE in 15 seconds – are u sure the mlrs only hits 24kms?? – the bateleur 127mm mlrs of south africa hits 36 kms – and the rockets are much smaller??? . .. ..
